Title I
Overview
Title I provides funding for schools to help struggling students. It is through Title I funding that we are able to work with small groups of students in reading and math.
At Big Spring, interventionists use targeted, research-based interventions. Reading interventions target phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency skills in grades K – 3. Math interventions target numbers and operations in grades K and 1.
Interventionists hold a Back-to-School Night, once students have been selected for interventions, to provide families with information on Title I, intervention programs, and information on how families can support their student's reading and math skills development.
There are also several family events and parent advisory meetings held throughout the year.
